About Blogday

Blogday was a project to document a year in text and photographs taken using a mobile phone.  At least, it was intended to only last for a year, but ended up going on for much longer than that and became much more about the words than it did about the photographs.

Why did I use a phone camera instead of a more sophisticated one? Because when I started,  camera phones were just becoming really common, and their prevalence meant that they offered us a unique opportunity to conveniently and unobtrusively document the things around us in a way that we have never been able to do before. They offer a solution to the loss of social history that digital photography seemed to threaten us with, by making everyone potential historians.

I also hope to show that even with relatively simple digital cameras it is possible to be creative, just like it is with simple film cameras. I hope you’ll drop by every now and then.

Karen GoughBy the way, this is me – Karen. I have a daughter, a husband, a black miniature poodle and a goldfish named Gill. I’m a keen photographer;  writer;  sewer; bookbinder,… crafter.

  1. Hi Karen

Your site looks great. I’ve put you on my blogroll and subscribed via RSS, so looking forward to seeing more of the world through your eyes.

Hopefully I’ll see you around CAE next year.

  2. Hi Karen

This message was left for you on my blog.

I’ve just had a tour around Karen’s Blog and enjoyed it very much. Plenty of diverse and interesting storys and moments. Karen has a fine skill of photography and capturing gems of the city and suburbs. I tried to send a message direct to Karen through her reply section but you know my computer skills Bruce Clarke – I couldn’t do it…Hopefully Karen gets my vote of approval thorough your blog.

    Thanks for your email earlier.

Lets keep in touch and after understanding maybe what we do at the Angel team a little more, you might identify some synergy going forward to help us out here and there.

ps. Love poodles too! I have a miniature Maltese called Bambino – he is actually human really…. aren’t they all with their little personalities 🙂

    Warm Regards
